July 26th is the 28th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Approximately 13% of all Floridians report having at least one disability; therefore, it is important to be well versed on ADA and potential accommodations.
Summer often yields a little downtime for many of us, so be sure to have some rest and relaxation, and use this time to check some items off your to-do list! Reminder: July is a renewal month for SHRM, so don’t forget to pay your dues before the end of the month.
Are you timing out from your chapter volunteer duties? Are you interested in getting more involved in the HR Florida State Council? If you said “yes” to either (or both) of those questions, we are reviewing applications for the 2019 Council and we want to learn more about you!
The 2018 HR Florida Conference & Expo has been pre-approved for a maximum of 14 SHRM professional development credits and 14 HR Certification Institute general recertification credits for attending the entire conference (including sessions during both lunch hours). Our comprehensive program is designed to give you the full range of HR education. From the basics that every HR professional needs, to the innovative ideas that are changing how you work, our 120+ sessions have something for everyone at every level.
Every year, SHRM recognizes chapters who are raising the bar for local and state HR professionals. The award aligns individual chapters’ and state councils’ activities with SHRM’s aspirations for the HR profession and recognizes accomplishments and strategic activities and initiatives that enhance the human resource profession.

With the installation of a new Director of College Relations, HR Florida remains committed to the local Chapters. HR Florida will continue to assist Chapter efforts in the days ahead to make a difference in the lives of college students across this great State.
