A small group from the HR Florida State Council had the honor of attending the commissioning of the newest Naval destroyer, the U.S.S. Paul Ignatius (DDG 117) at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. Take a look at the HR Mouth of the South for more information on this memorable event!
Living and working in Florida has many advantages, but each year brings a new hurricane season and the threat of potentially damaging storms. An employer’s hurricane preparations should include awareness of the employment laws, which might be implicated in the event of a storm as well as planning to address storm-related issues.
HR Florida is partnering with Districts and Chapters around the state to bring valuable training to its members, at-large HR professionals, and business leaders.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has awarded a 2018-2019 Merit Award designation to the Florida Institute of Technology SHRM student chapter for providing superior growth and development opportunities to its student chapter members.

In the North Florida Panhandle, District 2 includes the Bay County SHRM Chapter in Panama City and the Big Bend SHRM Chapter in Tallahassee. Both Chapters were recipients of the 2018 SHRM Excel Platinum Award and are off to an impressive start in 2019.

A typical workday for me is full of compensation and job descriptions; so, I was thrilled to venture out as a WWF Wellbeing Ambassador and fulfill my passion of encouraging and sharing the importance of healthy lifestyles at our first District 8 WWF mini preprogram team presentation.  Our first mini preprogram was held on June 26th 2019 in Charlotte County.

The HR Florida State Council consists of 10 districts, each with 2-3 chapters, across the state.  Our Chapters have accomplished so many amazing initiatives that may not be known outside of their Districts.
They arrived by plane, train, and car. Wellbeing Works Florida rolled into Palm Beach on June 6, 2019. Close to 300 HR professionals converged on the Palm Beach Hilton for the Human Resource Association of Palm Beach County Annual Conference.
What is the value of maintaining your credential? Because the HR profession is constantly changing and evolving, it is important for certified professionals to continually update their HR competencies and knowledge. Achieving certification as a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP®) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP®) is the first step.
