Please join us in congratulating the 2018 Chapter Excellence Award Winner for Diversity: Greater Miami SHRM! This chapter’s work with their diversity initiative stood out among all the nominations received. They created a strategic partnership with a program that promotes health, wellness and overall functioning for adults with developmental disabilities, as well as partnered with six other organizations serving the disabled in their area. They introduced their partnership at a social event, followed by a chapter meeting devoted to the topic. The chapter meeting hosted two separate panels and education about tax credits available to employers. All attendees were provided a toolkit of resources to prepare a case for developing an inclusion program in their organization. Attendees were asked to sign an Inclusion Advantage pledge, and those who did, were matched up with a coach from one of their partners to serve as a coach throughout the process.

HR Florida’s President’s Award recognizes one exemplary Chapter President who has significantly impacted the performance of their chapter by leading with a combination of compassion, creativity and innovation. In addition to the lovely President Award trophy, the winner receives a complimentary 2019 HR Florida Conference Registration.

Our 2018 winner exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding Chapter president.

Please join us in congratulating the HR Florida’s 2018 President’s Award recipient Suzanne Hudson! Suzanne has not only served as Chapter President, but has a strong belief in giving back to the community and has devoted much of her time serving on several other boards and committees. In turn, this has helped to build stronger partnerships within the community for the chapter, ultimately elevating the chapter’s and its members’ presence within the community.

This partnership further extended to a sister chapter when they learned that Bermuda’s chapter had limited resources for a SHRM Certification Study Group. Suzanne quickly moved into action and set up a way for Bermuda’s chapter members to participate in her own chapter’s SHRM Certification study group online. This not only enhanced certification opportunities for a sister chapter, but also strengthened the network among their membership. All of that topped off with the innovative and wildly successful 35th anniversary of the chapter that encompassed 35 acts of kindness in support of workforce readiness and community relations for Big Bend SHRM.
