Simon Sinek is one of my favorite people who I have yet to meet. His words of wisdom, especially those about leadership, ring so true, and this quote remains on my short list. As HR professionals, it is important to remember that “H” is for “human.” While we try to improve processes and efficiencies, our life’s work should concentrate on people first.
In addition to leading humanity to be kinder to one another, how can we serve as the leaders that our communities and employees need us to be? How do we support others? Attract them to our organizations? Encourage them to take risks and develop new skills? Motivate them to follow us?
Everyone leads in their own way, with their own flavor. In this edition of the HR Florida Review, we share some articles to expand your toolkit as well as your mind with a neurological approach to understanding both follower and leader development.
What legacy do you wish to create? What kind of leader do you need to be for that to come to fruition? We hope that these articles, your local SHRM chapter, and the HR Florida State Council can support you in your journey, this year and beyond.
Cheers to a new year!
