Being Mindful in Changing Times

With 2016 firmly in the rearview mirros, the possibilities ahead of us as an organization for 2017 are unlimited. As I reflect on what is yet to come, I am struck with life’s unpredictability. While it may seem counterintuitive, factoring in the unpredictable somehow makes me feel more in control. By being mindful of the changes that will no doubt come our way, we are able to be ready to respond and address these challenges head on, both as individuals and professionals.

Change is inevitable. It will occur whether we are an engaged, positive force of change, or whether we let it drag us down while fighting against it tooth and nail. Change does not have to be feared. It can be an exciting, motivating part of our lives if we keep our minds and hearts open to it. We may even find ourselves wondering why we did not implement change sooner.

Embrace the adventure and journey of what is yet to come, whether it be change at work, with a volunteer role, or in our personal lives. Lead by example through helping take away the fear associated with change and instead replacing it with excitement, remembering that change can bring great success and happiness.
