HR Florida State Council elects 2014 Executive Board The board members stretch from Pensacola to Tampa

HR Florida State Council is pleased to announce the election of its 2014 executive board. Tallahassee professional Joyce Chastain, SPHR, serves as President; Carol McDaniel of Tampa serves as President Elect; Shannon Lands, SPHR of Pensacola, is Vice President; Heather Deyrieux, SPHR of Orlando, is Secretary; Leigh Mills, SPHR of Jacksonville, is Treasurer; and Lynnette Holsinger, SPHR, GPHR of Tampa, is the Conference Director.

HR Florida State Council is the state affiliate for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The Council facilitates services and programs for the collective interest of the state’s SHRM and local chapter membership, while also promoting activities that serve the professional and advance the profession.

Joyce has more than 30 years of progressive human resources experience in the private sector environment. She holds a Business Administration degree from Emmanuel College, in Franklin Springs, GA; was awarded Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation by the Human Resources Certification Institute; and holds an Advanced Certificate in Internal Investigations.

Carol McDaniel is the Senior Vice President at Kinetix, a Recruitment Process Outsourcing firm. Carol’s background combines extensive Human Resource consulting, recruiting, marketing, and advertising expertise. With her strong understanding of the many challenges in today’s competitive labor market environment, she is considered a subject matter expert in the employer marketing and branding process.

Shannon Lands is the Human Resources Manager at Saltmarsh, Cleaveland & Gund, with responsibility and oversight for the entire HR function within the 100- plus employee accounting firm. Shannon has been a practitioner of HR for over 15 years and focuses on recruiting, retention, benefits, and employee relations.

Heather Deyrieux, SPHR, now serves as the HR Florida State Council Secretary. She has previously served as the Conference Director and other roles for the conference. Heather is the Director of Client Services at, TBJobs. com, and These top career websites serve clients of all sizes with their recruiting and hiring needs. Internally, Heather focuses on the recruitment, retention, and training of their staff.

Leigh Mills is a Vice President, Senior Consultant responsible for plan strategy design, implementation, and client servicing of employee benefits accounts at Compass Consulting Group. With more than 30 years of industry experience, her vast experience includes Property & Casualty Account Management, Risk Management Consulting, OSHA Compliance, Employee Benefits Consulting and Business Development.

Lynnette Holsinger, currently holds the role of HR Florida State Conference Director. She is the 2013 past president of HR Tampa and is employed as the Human Resources Director for Nature Coast EMS. She specializes in the areas of employee relations and benefits.

Heather Vogel, SPHR, is the immediate past president.
