The third and final Military Shadow Day of the year was held at Naval Air Station Pensacola on November 18th. Through the partnership of HR Florida and the Department of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) program, members of the Greater Pensacola Chapter and local employers visited the Navy Reserve’s Pilot Training Wing Six.
Participants received a Command briefing on the Wing’s mission, an ESGR briefing and a tour of the flight line. The highlight of the day was actual “stick time” in the cockpit simulator of the Navy’s T-45 training aircraft. By using a headset and video display screen, participants experienced flying the T-45 by taking off and landing at Sherman Field, home of the Navy’s Blue Angels.
2017 will see a continuation of this Workforce Readiness initiative with Chapter members across the State having the opportunity to interact with Military Service Members to learn how military skills translate to civilian skills.
