AS DON WORKS ARRIVED AT THE VENUE, HE thought this was going to be an ordinary council meeting. But, mid-way through the meeting, that would all change when the HR Florida legislative affairs director was named the 2017 Volunteer of the Year. Announced at the August meeting and during the annual HR Florida State Conference and Expo, the annual award recognizes a volunteer who actively supports, promotes and develops the human resources profession through volunteerism. Works was selected for his overall contributions in supporting local chapters, advancing the profession and driving council effectiveness through outstanding approaches, innovative ideas and promotion of the society and council.

The HR Florida State Council dat on the Hill is now the Legislative Conference. For the second consecutive year, a record number of HR Florida members from across the state gathered in Tallahassee to walk the halls of the Capitol. The seventh annual event took place March 29-30 with over 60 attendees sporting new name badges with HR Florida “Day on the Hill” red, white and blue ribbons.
