The South Brevard Society for Human Resource Management Inc. (SBSHRM) and the Space Coast Human Resource Association Inc. (SCHRA) located in Brevard County are partnering to present a conference for the benefit of local business professionals.
On March 11th and 12th, SHRM Jacksonville will hold their 5th Annual Regional Conference, HR: Leading with Credibility. We all realize the importance of developing our leadership abilities, our people skills, our ability to influence the decision makers in our company, regardless of the position we may hold. Leadership has nothing to do with positional authority, but everything to do with our credibility and our ability to influence those around us. Credibility, or lack of, will define your success.
As the 2013 Charlotte County SHRM.org President, I can proudly report that I have attended many HR Florida Leadership Conferences over my twenty-two year HR career history. This year, like every year, HR Florida continues to wow, entertain, and educate us on the most current Chapter Leadership educational program ideas and initiatives.
What is it that you have hired your employees to do? Do you have an accurate job description that explains their job? Has it been updated when job duties changed or were modified from the original objectives? Your employees want to succeed. Do not set up your good employees for failure. They need to know very specifically what it is you would like them to do. Despite popular belief, they cannot read your mind.
HR Florida could not be successful without the hard work and support of our volunteer leaders, those chapter presidents and board members who make up the HR Florida State Council. This annual award recognizes a volunteer who actively supports, promotes, and develops the human resource profession through volunteerism.
In the presence of over 1500 HR leaders at the 2012 State Conference, our award sponsor, Allan Weitzman (partner with Proskauer Rose LLP) presented the HR Florida Professional of the Year Award to Eric Scott Bowers, SPHR.
