Leaders are not born, they are created through training, mentoring and volunteering. The three chapters in District 5 are raising up LEADERS.
Volusia/Flagler SHRM has moved their meeting location from the airport to the LPGA International. The move has saved the members that valuable commodity called time by eliminating the TSA wait line and scan. Additionally, the chapter has changed their full day legislative conference to a ½ day resulting in over 100 participants attending the event.
Space Coast Human Resource Association is also on the move. Although most people move to the beach, Space Coast has headed inland to the Holiday Inn off of I95. The hotel honored the previously negotiated lunch prices and waived the room fee. President Mcshell Alvarez-Rivon is expecting the more convenient location will increase attendance and membership. Is it working? The first meeting had a 60% increase in attendance!
As David Bowie sang “Time may change me, but I can’t change time.” Volusia/Flagler SHRM and Space Coast Human Resource Association have seen change this year!
October 4th, 2019 while attending the Leadership 20/20 Conference GO SHRM inducted 16 out of their 20 board members for the 2020 term. Did you catch that? Congratulations to Nate Shannon, President, Cheryl Brown-Merriwether, President Elect, Justin McConnell, Secretary, Steve Holland.
