SHRM’s roll out of the Getting Talent Back to Work (“GTBW”) initiative earlier this year has resulted in a great response from SHRM members, the media, and the general public. In addition to individuals and companies submitting their pledge of support, 148 local SHRM Chapters and 50 State Councils have signed the pledge to date.
On March 21, 2019, the South Brevard Society of Human Resource Management (SBSHRM) - Student Chapter (housed at Florida Tech in Melbourne Florida) hosted the event, "How to gain a professional edge: Establishing a professional image." Professor Mims, a professor in the College of Business at Florida Tech, was the guest speaker.
April marks the month for the rollout of the Wellbeing Works Florida Wellbeing Ambassadors program! You will be seeing new faces and programs in your local chapters starting as early as June 2019!
The 8th Annual HR Florida State Council Legislative Conference took place March 27th and 28th. Nearly 90 HR professionals from around the state gathered in Tallahassee to converse about pending legislature impacting the workforce.

Achieving certification as a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP®) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP®) is the first step.
One in five Americans lives with a mental illness every year. This includes your friends, family, and co-workers. Unfortunately, there is often a stigma associated with having a mental health condition. We, as HR professionals, can help to fight the stigma and discrimination in our workplaces.
